Dinner with Tom and Deb

A couple weeks ago, some friends and myself were invited to dinner with some church family. They have a beautiful home just outside of Manhattan, surrounded by fields and a dirt road. We arrived around sunset, so my little photographer eyes were going bonkers, itching to look behind the lens of my father's old 35mm.

Next to their house was the biggest pepper garden I had ever seen. Tom promptly offered me as many as I wanted, so I let him pick some out for me. Jalapenos and habaneros galore, I was in heaven. In front of their house was a garden area, which consisted mainly of rose moss.

Outside, a climbing tree stood regally next to a field, and kittens ran amuck, hiding from our eager hands. Inside, Deb had been working for the past two days, preparing the most delicious, home-made meal I had eaten in a long time. Beef Wellington and gravy, corn and peas cooked with herbs, cubed potatoes, fresh steamed spinach, pickled cucumbers, mango green tea, lemon balm lemonade, and lastly, the show-stopper, home-made brownies, with ice cream topped with home-made chocolate sauce (who knew such a thing was possible?).

Needless to say, it was delightful time, and I hope we get invited back soon.

  1. Gorgeous photos!! I came to your blog through my friend, Allie, and her engagement photo on her FB.

I was surprised to see you mention my friends! You captured Tom and Deb's property wonderfully! It really is magical out there!

This sounds really bizarre, but I have something for Deb that I want to get to her, but I have been wondering how I could get it to her in a strange and special way. Would it be possible for me to get this to you somehow, and you get it to her at church?

This would tickle me if this could happen!!
